Vision is better than Experience in Game Development Leadership
Games are more than having Experience making them. You need someone at the helm, who knows the Game. Someone, who thought of it Years and Years ago. Someone who considers this their Baby. Games at the AAA level do not have a Visionary. Games at the AAA Level are made using Performance Metrics, and Market-Tested Research.
Case and Point: Anthem
On the surface, Anthem sounds like an amazing game! The E3 Trailer showed us what Anthem could be. It showed us a Universe that was mysterious, vast, and cooperative. Over and over again throughout Development, one of the main issues that hindered Development was a lack of leadership.
I’ll clarify that by saying, it is not a lack of Management Leadership, but a lack in Visionary Leadership. Since there was no one at the helm, who was so intensely passionate about the Game, the Game became people making their own decisions, leaving it a completely broken mess.
This isn’t the only example. As many in the Community know, the number of Games that are releasing broken, is only going up.
Gaming needs a trend reversal. Change is forking scary. AAA Gaming needs a movement that turns everything on its head. Not the constant Goal Posting you see right now. Companies will always lean in, and lean out, to dodge scrutiny. They do this to seem Pro-Gamer, but it ALWAYS comes back to one thing Stock Price.
This trend reversal starts with us. If you’ve followed us, or even read literally any of the Articles we have written, then you’ll know one thing, even if you don’t agree.
We have Vision, by the Sh#tload.
We have Passion, by the Sh#tload.
Be the change you want to see. Spread the word. We are coming for AAA Gaming.
Even if we fail, don’t you want to see where this road leads? Or do you just want another Call of Duty Map?
